About

Delaware Glass & Mirror Co., Inc. was established in 1928 by the King family in Muncie, Indiana.  At that time, the company’s primary focus was glazing license plates for multiple General Motors plants throughout the Midwest.  As the number of General Motors plants began to decline in the 1960’s, the business shifted toward a more local economy with a concentration on residential and commercial sales.  This market change allowed an expansion of residential glass repair, mirror installation, and new construction.

On April 19, 1982, current co-owner, Rex Kirby, and former owner, Tom King, purchased Delaware Glass.  Rex became the managing partner at the time of purchase and acquired sole ownership of the company in 2007.  During those years, many valuable individuals were hired that helped expand the company into the successful organization it is today.  As of 2018, the ownership has again started to transfer, with Jon Hayhurst transitioning into the role of President.  Jon has been a part of Delaware Glass since 2001 and is one piece of a strong leadership team with substantial experience.

In 1982, Delaware Glass started out with just a few employees and now employs between 35 to 50 individuals composed of field, office, sales, and management staff.  With a family focused culture and a sound reputation for quality, we believe our strength is our employees, and we are always on the lookout for hard-working individuals to add to our team.

Today, Delaware Glass focuses primarily on medical, office, education, church, and retail related glazing contracts.  We also support a service department which specializes in residential mirrors, shower doors, insulated glass replacements, and glass tabletops.

A few of the commercial manufacturers we handle include Kawneer, Oldcastle Glass, CRL, Mapes Architectural Panels, Tubelite, Wausau, Major Industries, Trulite, Viracon, Mayflower Sales, Stanley Access, and Record Automatic Operators.
